Bayer Leverkusen strengthened its lead in the German League (Bundesliga) standings, following its victory over host Cologne (2-0), today, Sunday, in the 24th round of the competition.
Leverkusen took the lead through Jeremy Frimpong in the 37th minute, before Alejandro Grimaldo added the second goal in the 73rd minute, enabling Leverkusen to achieve its fifth consecutive victory in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen also scored in the last 17 matches away from home in various competitions, equaling their best run achieved in 2016.
Leverkusen raised its score to 64 points at the top of the standings, 10 points ahead of Bayern Munich, the second-placed team, the title holder for the last 11 seasons.
