Sudan Events- Interview-Magda Hassan

– I have the new one and my voice is still fine

– Governments throughout the ages have neglected singers and they left due to restrictions

Everyone who listens to the songs of the singer Al-Tayeb Abdullah feels a hidden sadness.
His style distinguishes his songs. He is a famous Sudanese singer, poet and composer of Yemeni origin. He became famous and his star rose high since his first beginnings in the sixties in the sky of singing during the golden age of Sudanese singing and art.
Al-Tayeb Abd Allah became famous , with the sweetness of his voice with a sad nature, returned to Sudan recently, after living in exile for more than 16 years, then he left again before the war to receive treatment, and he is still abroad in this space with pauses about his illness and what is happening in Sudan.

Where is the singer Al Tayeb Abdullah?
I am now in Saudi Arabia, in Jeddah. I went out for treatment, and thank Allah , it is quite good. Singers do not leave life except with the love of people, and all the artists I was close to are poor.
People should know that the Sudanese singer is always in a state of poverty and in a state of lack, even though he provides juice. His love for the homeland was not paid attention to by all governments throughout the ages
I left before the war.
Thank Allah ,I have four children to support me.
What do you think is happening in Sudan now?
What is happening in Sudan is not a coincidence, but has been planned for a long time. I have not wronged anyone. The Sudanese people were watching during a period of plundering , and I say that Sudan has been ruined by its children. If the rulers had cared about its treasures and its good things, we would have been a superpower.
What happened is not from outside us, in our hands. We set fires and search for the fire brigade. I have no news. Reassured in the light of plunder, plunder and destruction
How is your treatment journey going?
After I was treated, I left Sudan after an accident where I had have a wound in my collarbone.
Thank Allah for the care of my children, I am fine despite the suffering.
May Allah bring together the diaspora of Sudanese people. Pride takes over and I say that health is the most important thing in this life.
Did your artistic career stop due to illness?
I did not stop due to illness. Since 1989 during the reign of Numeiri, I have not been a supporter of the one party. They all want artists to join the one party, the Socialist Party. So I felt that if you refused, many things would certainly be disrupted in your life, so I left and went to Saudi Arabia and worked for Al Jazeera newspaper. In the proof reading and review section of articles.

So you left because of the restrictions imposed on singers?

Yes, in the last 30 years, there was a state of distress, and the arts in their various forms could have helped, but there is a quarantine on the arts, but what concerns the present time, unfortunately, and there is no objection to Allah ’s rule. Most of the great artists who came and used to express their opinions frankly about the governments, they left, starting from the beginning.

And Mohamed Al-Amin and others
Do you have new business?

Yes, I have new works that I brought from Saudi Arabia. I tried to record them.
Eight new works, and my new works, if not better than
before, are not less than them. My voice is still fine now. There are no singers as before.

What is the role of art in strengthening the social fabric?

The arts have a major role, but now we are waiting for a miracle to happen so that Sudan can return to what it was before in the basic things of life. I am not pessimistic, but Sudan will not return with words and good wishes unless the people of the outside world join hands as one to accomplish what the war destroyed, and the social fabric has also undergone disruption and divisions. This is not an easy matter.
