Hammour Zayada in (Milk Tea)

(Milk Tea) program hosted yesterday evening the novelist writer Hammour Zayada in an episode broadcast on YouTube, presented by Mustafa Al-Naiem.
The episode shed light on the writer’s works and further introduced him.
Zayada was born in the city of Omdurman and grew up there. He worked in journalism, writing for Al-Mustaqila newspaper, Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed newspaper, Al-Jarida newspaper, Ajras Al-Hurriya and Al-Youm Al-Tali, and he took responsibility for the cultural file in the Sudanese newspaper Al-Akhbar.
Then he turned to writing novels, winning a number of awards, including: Naguib Mahfouz Award 2014 – The American University in Cairo for his novel “Longing for a Darwish” – Shortlisted for the International Award for Arabic Fiction (Booker) 2015 – United Arab Emirates UAE for his novel “Longing for a Darwish.” Distinguished Jury Award from the Arab World Institute in Paris, for the novel Drowning in 2022.
His works have been translated into French, English, Persian, Italian and Chinese.
