A lecture on Sudanese theater in Kampala

Afrokosh Cultural Forum in Kampala, Uganda witnessed an evening celebrating World Theater Day on Thursday evening under the slogan “Art is Peace.”
During the evening, critic Al-Sir Al-Sayed gave a lecture entitled (Theater and Change… Theater and Life’s Questions), in which he talked about the emergence of theater in Sudan, its contemporaneity, and its openness to the theater trends that were created in the process of theater as an art with its own specificity.
The lecture discussed Sudanese theater’s approach to the topic of war, and touched on some Sudanese plays, such as “Mak Nimr,” “My Love Plant,” “Forced Conscription,” “Dementia,” “Ice Dream,” and “Kandaka Amani Rinas,” in addition to the experience of the Siha network in approaching stories.

A group of youth and women participated in the dialogue, and were exposed to the conditions of Sudanese theatre, its problems and roles.
The evening was moderated by journalist and cultural activist Adel Kaler, and the young musician Siab also participated in it, who added spirit to the evening with his musical pieces that won the approval of the audience.
