A drone targeted a Ramadan iftar for the Al-Baraa Bin Malik Battalion, on Tuesday, in the Infiniti Hall in the city of Atbara in the River Nile State resulting in deaths and injuries. The incident raised fears that the war that has been going on in Sudan for a year would move to the River Nile State.
According to information, the authorities arrested members of the cell that carried out the incident in the Al-Akkad area of ​​the city of Al-Damer, which is close to the city of Atbara.
The River Nile State Security Committee issued a brief statement regarding the incident.
It said, “A group of worshipers were treacherously attacked by a drone while they were performing the Maghrib prayer after eating the Ramadan Iftar meal in the city of Atbara. The attack left a number of martyrs and wounded, and they were treated to receive treatment.”
It added, “More details will be published once the investigations are completed.”
According to information, the drone that targeted Iftar was launched from the Al-Akkad area.
An eyewitness reported to (Sudan Events) that the drone exploded inside the hall where breakfast was being held, and part of the attendees was inside, while others were performing the sunset prayer.
The eyewitness indicated that the “drone” explosion caused a huge sound at the site of the incident, indicating that security services quickly deployed inside and around the site of the incident.
According to information, the competent authorities closed all the outlets in the city of Atbara, in addition to closing the city’s main market, accompanied by a heavy deployment of regular forces in Atbara.
There were reports of 12 martyrs being killed in the incident and dozens being injured.
The martyrs and wounded were transferred to the Police Hospital and Atbara Hospital.
There were reports that the cell was arrested in a house in the Al-Akkad area, with (4) drones in its possession. The operation was confirmed, the detainees directed to the rest of the cell in the West Bank, “the old quarry,” and a team consisting of intelligence and military police moved to the specified location to arrest the rest of the cell members.
In this context, the commander of the Al-Baraa Bin Malik Battalion, Al-Misbah Talha, confirmed that he survived the bombing of the drone in Atbara.
Al-Misbah vowed to kill a thousand people for every one killed at breakfast.
