Washington and Cairo discuss efforts to stop the war in Sudan

The Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister, Director of the Sudan and South Sudan Department, discussed at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the American envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, accompanied by the US Ambassador to Cairo, Hero Mustafa, the efforts made to stop the war in Sudan.
The meeting will discuss, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, “the efforts exert to reach a ceasefire and return to the negotiating table, to spare the blood of the brotherly Sudanese people and to preserve the security and safety of civilians, in addition to the possibility of opening humanitarian corridors to facilitate the arrival of food and medical supplies to the Sudanese, while highlighting the role It is pivotal for Egypt and neighboring countries in this field.
The statement reviewed the ongoing preparations for holding the international humanitarian conference to support Sudan and neighboring countries, which will be hosted by Paris on April 15, and is expected to witness broad participation from countries sponsoring peace efforts in Sudan, donors and international organizations.
The two sides agreed, according to the Egyptian statement, “to continue consultation and coordination during the next stage, and to provide all means of support, in a way that contributes to Sudan overcoming the delicate and critical stage it is going through.”
