President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, received at the Presidential Palace in Juba, on Thursday, the Deputy President of the Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance cooperation and joint coordination in various fields, in addition to consultation on regional issues of common interest.
Aqar said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the security situation, humanitarian and economic issues in Sudan, the repercussions of the war on the economic institutions in the two countries, and the importance of opening the crossings between the two countries.
Agar revealed an expected summit between the President of the Sovereignty Council and the President of the Republic of South Sudan after Eid al-Fitr.
Tut Qalwak, Advisor to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, explained in a press statement that the President of the Republic of South Sudan received full enlightenment from the Vice President of the Sovereignty Council on the developments of the situation in Sudan and the repercussions of the war.
He affirmed his country’s keenness to establish security, peace and stability in Sudan and its serious endeavor to find a solution to the current crisis, which has a negative impact on the situation in the Republic of South Sudan.
Qalwak added that the meeting discussed the issue of the oil pipeline between South Sudan and the Red Sea and the need to expedite the repair of engineering faults so that it can return to service as soon as possible.
