“Emergency Lawyers”: The Militia Rapes a Girl and Assassinates a Man in Tuti

The “Emergency Lawyers” Committee has strongly condemned the horrific incident that occurred in the Tuti area of ​​Khartoum at dawn on Wednesday, when a group affiliated with the Rapid Support militia stormed a house “on Tuti Island in Khartoum” and committed a brutal rape against a girl at gunpoint, and also assaulted peaceful civilians who objected. This heinous act resulted in the death of one civilian and the injury of 6 other people.
A statement by the “Emergency Lawyers” Committee said that this shameful act comes in the context of wars and armed conflicts, in accordance with international charters and agreements, including the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the Two Additional Protocols of 1977, which strictly prohibit sexual assaults and forced sexual crimes during wars, while declaring them crimes of war under international law.
The statement continued: “We condemn this crime and hold the Rapid Support Militia fully responsible.”
