Dramatists against war for peace
Sudan Events – Magda Hassan
After a year of war, Sudanese dramatists are still a symbol of steadfastness. Despite displacement and forced displacement, dramatists are the most productive during this year under the slogan (fighting ugliness with beauty) and (antidote to war), the project founded by Dr. Saleh Abdul Qader.
Great suffering for the arts, suffocation in the work environment, stopping many activities for various reasons, the migration and refuge of most creative people outside their cities and homes. Quite a few cadres were lost as a result of this war.
The head of the Dramatists Syndicate, Al-Rashid Ahmed Issa, said that the arrests included some members of the arts as some other members disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Al-Rashid called on all members of the union and its branches in all states and regions of Sudan to work on peace and unity. He added that drama is an entity in itself and has an effective role, no to war, yes to peace. Our unity is the lifeline from all the evil of war.
While the expansion of the circle of war makes it extremely difficult, drama creates life, and dramatists are against death and are naturally formed against war with peace
During this period, the city of Wad Madani witnessed theater activities, where a number of plays were presented, the most recent of which was the play (Barricades) directed by Rabie Youssef, which was shown in several shelter homes before the war reached the state os Gezir. Afterwards, the same play and others were moved to the city of Port Sudan, and the Nile River State where a number of theatrical performances in shelter homes are still ongoing.
