Singer Awadallah Bashir, a former member of the Iqd Al-Jalad band, said that as an artist, he will harness all his talents and capabilities to stand on the side of peace and end the war.
He wrote after his return trip the day before yesterday to the city of Gadaref that he is in favor of peace and an end to the war, “Until we regain our role and responsibilities towards our people and our audience, and with the weapon of art, which cannot be used in an atmosphere of war and the sounds of bullets, my greetings to you from my homeland, Gadaref State on a round-trip to visit members of my family whose work conditions did not allow them to flee and join the rest of the family in Cairo.” He added.
“For me, the experience of returning and visiting in these circumstances is an important and inspiring experience with mixed feelings between sadness and loss, omen and wishes for the end of the ordeal and the establishment of the foundations of loyalty and love for the land and for mankind. For experiencing the sorrows of the family and hearing the voices of their suffering and complimenting them with the weakest contributions, which are medicine and patting their tired shoulders.” He said. “Another value in matters of return to home is overcoming the fears resulting from the return and not relying on the reality of asylum and displacement, with my appreciation for the circumstances that prompted many families and colleagues to flee and seek refuge, hoping that God will make it possible for us and for them to remove the causes of displacement by inspiring both sides of the conflict to put down their weapons and save the blood of the Sudanese and the establishment of the values of peace, coexistence, reconciliation and development.” He added.
