Economist: Exporting Gold will Contribute Significantly to Economy

Economist Dr. Mohammad Al-Nayer has criticized the Ministry of Finance of not having disclosed information about the figures in the 2024 budget.
He said, “There is no information announced by the Ministry of Finance to evaluate the performance of the first quarter of the 2024 budget,” and he added in a statement to (Sudan Events) “Even the budget, when it was approved, was not announced in figures, and therefore the performance of the first quarter is unknown. Only what the management of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company stated was that the outcome of the revenue from gold exports amounted to 428 million dollars,” and he considered these to be positive indicators. He said, “If this rate continues, revenues are expected to exceed 2 billion dollars by the end of the year, and it will have achieved the same rate before the war.” He confirmed the gold’s ability to contribute more to the Sudanese economy. During the next stage, however, he warned of the importance of reducing smuggling operations.
