Sudan Events – Aya Ibrahim

The Secretary-General of the National Council for Child Welfare, Professor Abdul Qadir Abdullah Abo, has revealed shocking statistics about the forced recruitment of children by the Rapid Support Militia (RSF) in areas under its control, and confirmed its forced recruitment of about (4,230) children.
Abo told (Sudan Events) that the rebel militia recruited about 1,800 children in the Al-Dabaibat area in South Kordofan, 850 children in El-Geneina, West Darfur, and 480 children in Zalingei, Central Darfur, in addition to recruiting 1,100 children in Gezira State. He pointed out that they had submitted a lawsuit against the militia’s recruitment of children to the Attorney General, head of the Violations Committee.
He pointed out that 87% of children in the country live in exceptional, stifling conditions as a result of the grave violations committed by the rebel militia since April 15 last year, and that they are below the poverty line and have not received voluntary humanitarian aid in wartime conditions from the United Nations and its specialized agencies, which he said donors have refused to deal with the competent authorities in Sudan.
