Al-Tayeb Siddiq: I walked on the red carpet through Reuters, not the arts

Director Tayeb Siddiq expressed his thanks and love to everyone who celebrated his latest award in New York.
He said in a post on his Facebook page that he disappointed his fans’ expectations that he would enter the red carpet through the arts, but it came through Reuters.
“I have no doubt that the honors and awards I received in New York are the energy of love of the Sudanese, who always wished to see me on red carpets and in front of the cameras, celebrating and appreciating the video songs that they believe are important for restoring the Sudanese conscience. Especially the expatriates whom I meet in different countries and who tell me, ‘Our children.’ They knew Sudan because of those works of art.” He added.
He said that despite his passion for it, he did not expect that the honor would come to him from the arts as many expected, “This is not to belittle their value, but I did not think that songs were a way to red carpets, like fellow filmmakers and artists whom we love and rejoice in their success, and we hope one day to accomplish what they have accomplished,” He added. “I know very well that you wanted the awards from the Arts camera, but it seemed from the Reuters camera.” He continued. “The award was made possible thanks to your love and the appreciation of our colleagues at Reuters who nominated us for it. We hope that the situation of our country will improve and news will remain in it about giant economic projects, international sports tournaments, festivals, and tourism.” He said.
