Discussing Impact of War on AOAD Work

The activities of the fifty-seventh meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the thirty-eighth session of its General Assembly will be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, during the period from May 1-2.
Professor Ibrahim Adam Ahmed Al-Dakhiri, Director General of the AOAD, considered the event an important Arab agricultural forum where the two legislative bodies of the AOAD will meet, whose membership includes all the Arab ministers of agriculture in relation to the General Assembly, and the ministers of agriculture in Lebanon, Bahrain, Palestine, Comoros, Sudan, Morocco, Mauritania, Yemen for the Executive Council, in addition to the participation of a number of representatives of the AOAD’s regional and international partners. During these meetings, the AOAD’s overall work between the two sessions of the General Assembly will be reviewed, as will the AOAD’s draft work plan for the years 2025-2026. The meeting will also address the rationale for the departure of the AOAD’s general administration from the main headquarters in Khartoum following the events in Sudan, and carrying out its work temporarily from the AOAD’s regional office in Cairo – Arab Republic of Egypt.
He said that the AOAD will review the progress of work in the Arab Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy 2020-2030, the Arab Program for Sustainable Food Security, follow-up the progress of work in the executive plan for the Arab Aquaculture Strategy 2017-2037, and the AOAD’s role in building capabilities and leading Arab initiatives in the field of sustainable agricultural development, as well as achieving food security and the Arab strategy for sustainable management of pastoral resources 2020 – 2040, determining the topics of the AOAD Awards for Arab Food Security for the years 2023 and 2024, besides activating and developing the work of the Arab Technical Institute for Agriculture and Fisheries in Lazikia.
