Economic Understandings between Sudan and Libya

The Minister of Finance of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Khaled Al-Mabrouk, has confirmed Libya’s support for the Islamic Development Bank Group’s resumption of financing vital projects in Sudan again. He affirmed during his meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibriel Ibrahim, in the presence of the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, on the sidelines of the bank’s annual meetings in Riyadh, the importance of continuing financial support for projects that are nearing completion, and the impact of stopping support due to the deterioration of the economic situation in Sudan as a result of the war.
The Sudanese Minister of Finance explained the impact of the war on the country, stressing the importance of Sudan’s stability for the benefit of neighboring countries, including Libya, which was greatly affected by the war during the past year.
The meeting focused on strengthening economic relations between the two countries, enhancing cooperation in the fields of investment and trade, in addition to supporting the private and public sectors in the two countries, and encouraging companies and institutions to cooperate and invest jointly.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Jibriel confirmed that the meeting represents the beginning of strengthening economic cooperation between Sudan and Libya, and achieving common goals and interests that benefit the peoples of both countries, by taking practical steps to implement the agreements and programs that were previously approved, with the aim of strengthening economic relations and development in the region.
