The Secretary-General of the Chamber of Commerce in the city of Atbara, Saif Al-Din Muqallid, has revealed that the commercial movement in the city of Atbara was affected by the movement of the price of the dollar against the Sudanese pound and its arrival to an unexpected extent as a result of the rise that exceeded expectations, indicating the weakness of purchasing power as a result of the rise in commodity prices, as the price of a 50-pound sack of sugar rose. A kilo ranges from 75 thousand pounds to 97 thousand pounds. He said that the relative stability of the dollar at 1,750 pounds led to a slight decrease in sugar prices to 85,000 pounds.
He stressed that the rise in prices made citizens find it difficult to meet daily needs, which led to a weakness in purchasing power. He stressed that the rise in the dollar affected commercial transactions between wholesalers, retailers, and suppliers.
Muqallad said, “There is an almost stagnation in the commercial and economic movement as a result of the impact of the commercial and economic movement. He said that the stability of the currency leads to the stability of the prices of consumer goods, which have become the greatest concern for the citizen in providing livelihoods. He pointed out that the movement of trade is limited to food supplies in light of the current crisis and lack of State employees paid salaries for many months, and he added, “If it were not for the efforts and support of Sudanese working abroad, families would not have been able to go about their daily lives in light of the difficult conditions.”
He was assured of the availability and flow of goods without scarcity.
