The National Umma: (Taqadum ) Ignites Disputes of Authentic Party

Sudan Events – Aya Ibrahim

Disagreements have exploded publicly during the past few hours within the National Umma Party against the backdrop of participation in the founding conference of the Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces “Taqadum,” which it intends to hold in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, in the coming days, between the two groups of the party’s presidency institution led by Maryam Al-Sadiq and the group of the party’s designated president, Major General Fadlallah Burma Nasser.
Rejecting the approach
The membership of the Presidency Institution of the party decided to refuse to participate in any Taqadum coordination event, which she said “does not follow the proper methods for calling for it, especially the founding conference of Taqadum, in which the institution was not followed in selecting the party’s representatives.” It was done without the knowledge of the Presidency Institution , the Coordination Council, and the party’s elected institutions in the states, and she said Most of the invitations were directed to party cadres in a personal capacity and in a selective manner, and the Presidency pointed out that Taqadum’s approach to selecting the party’s representatives is not compatible with the party’s keenness to develop joint work mechanisms.
Political heresy
Political analyst Dr. Rashid Al-Tijani pointed out that there is an institutional problem within the National Umma Party that emerged through the issuance of two different statements from within the party, and he said, “This is an unhealthy situation that must be resolved.”
To know the party’s true position.
Al-Tijani pointed out in an interview with Sudan Events that if the national Umma does not resolve the differences within it, it will be excluded from political action because its position will be ambiguous, which threatens the party.
Regarding the repercussions of this on the Taqadum coordination, he said that Taqadum’s approach is opportunistic and will choose the group that is compatible with its position. He pointed out that the Taqadum coordination is fragile, as evidenced by the fact that Abdullah Hamdouk signed the Nairobi Declaration in his personal capacity and as a former prime minister, which is what he described as political heresy.
Urgent reply
The group of the party’s designated head, Fadlallah Burma, responded to the statement of the Presidency Institution, and confirmed that the National Umma Party is a “founding member” of the “Taqadum” coordination and participates in its work and activities, and that the party is working effectively to end the preparatory process for the founding conference of “Taqadum” through its representatives, and seeks to achieving the party’s reform vision for coordination.
The Burma Nasser Group said that the party institution’s statement contained a number of inaccurate points that violated the regulations and the constitution, and that everything that resulted from it was unconstitutional, and those who issued the statement would be dealt with in accordance with institutional accountability frameworks.
The group affirmed the Umma’s continued participation in “Taqadum” and its position on the war and its keenness to complete the process of unifying the national ranks through its effective movement through Taqaddum and its continuous communication with the democratic and civil forces in order to find an urgent solution to the nation’s crisis.
A wave of anger
On the other hand, sources within the National Umma Party confirmed that a coordination committee led by Babiker Faisal and Abdullah Hamdouk is trying hard to persuade prominent leaders in the National Umma Party to violate the party’s decision to boycott participation in the founding conference and to advance by submitting individual invitations.
The sources told (sudan Events) that since yesterday, the leaders of Taqadum have been making contacts within the National Umma Party and submitting individual invitations to participate in the conference. They added, “Babakir Faisal, at the request of Al-Wathiq Al-Barir, Secretary-General of the National Umma Party, contacted the Secretary-General of the Ansar Affairs Authority, Abdul Mahmoud Abo, who apologized for… Participation He also extended an invitation to the assistant head of the National Umma Party, Naima Ajabna, individually, who in turn rejected the invitation and commented, saying, “I am the assistant head of a party and I am invited through my institutions.”
The sources said that the behavior of the leaders of Taqadum sparked a great wave of anger within the National Umma Party, which they considered an underestimation of the party’s status and decisions.
A reformist vision
Earlier, the National Umma Party, which is part of the Forces of Freedom and Change coalition, presented the Central Council and the Coordination of Democratic Civil Forces (Taqadum), which arose after the rebellion of the Rapid Support militia, headed by former Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk, presented a reform vision for the Taqadum Coordination, and expressed his willingness to cooperate with it to develop it to be able to achieve its primary goal, and regarding this, the leader of the National Umma Party, Misbah Ahmed, revealed that they had received a response from the (Taqadum) coordination regarding the reform vision that the party presented to the coordination.
Ahmed previously told (Sudan Events) that (Taqadum) sent a written response to the National Nation, which he subjected to study by the party’s institutions.
Renewed disagreements
After the death of the leader of the National Umma Party, Imam Al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, disputes continued to renew from time to time within the historic party until the current crisis in the country exacerbated the differences within it and its position on the war, as the National Umma Party called, through the “Taqadum” coordination, to stop the war in Sudan and return to the negotiating table, which is a position that has found sharp criticism from some others .
