An American company has acquired ownership of the Italian club Inter Milan, after the recent crises that struck the Chinese Sunning Group. The American company issued a statement announcing its official acquisition of ownership of Inter as of Wednesday, thus ending the era of Chinese control over the club. “The funds managed by the company owned the Inter club, and this comes after the failure to repay the loan granted to Sunning for a period of 3 years, which ended on May 21, in the amount of 395 million euros.” The company’s statement said. The American company granted a loan to the Chinese “Sanning” group that owns Inter Milan, worth $300 million in May 2021, with the aim of supporting the club during the Corona pandemic crisis, to be added to the interest burden.
President Chang tried to extend the payment deadline and reach a compromise with the American company, but he did not succeed in doing so. The club’s board will resign, a new president will be appointed, possibly Javier Zanetti and Inter’s current directors, Beppe Marotta, Alessandro Antonello, Dario Pacín and Piero Ausilio, will retain their roles despite the change in ownership.
