Minawi: The Battles of El Fasher are being Run by Perpetrators of Genocide in Darfur
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, warned on Sunday that the ongoing El Fasher battles are being run by the same parties that committed the crimes of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Darfur in 2003.
Minawi expressed his dissatisfaction with the silence of the international community towards what he described as the “action show” practiced by the Rapid Support militias in El Fasher with the support of member states of the United Nations.
Minawi confirmed, in a tweet on his account on the “X” website, that the current battles in El Fasher are being conducted with ethnic motives and by the same hands that committed the crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing in 2003, without any moral motive or clear political reasons.
Minawi indicated his intention to formally address the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Chairman of the African Union Commission in the coming hours, expressing his hope to receive positive responses commensurate with their responsibilities towards the crisis in Darfur.
