Sudanese Farmers’ Association Raises a Memorandum of Urgent Demands

The Sudanese Farmers’ Association, the rain-fed sector, has announced the drafting of demands in preparation for submitting it to the competent authorities.
The Association’s member Ahmed Hassan said that the draft includes freezing the debts owed to the farmers and giving them grace until the next season, accelerating immediate and sufficient financing, while stopping persecution of the farmer and throwing him in prisons, according to his report attached to his file regarding the investment of the branch in question, in addition to determining the extent of the readiness of the Department of Plant Protection and Elimination. The following obstacles enable it to combat birds, locusts, and whatever arises at that time.
The draft stressed the necessity of meeting with the administration of the FAO and what can be done regarding seeds, explaining the agricultural situation in the safe and unsafe states, and fully recognizing the absence of the agricultural season as a crushing famine, and this is according to the report of the World Food Organization, directing the Sovereign Council to secure the agricultural season and providing aids for that, discussion. The issue of insurance: meeting with the management of insurance companies to amend the insurance policy, exempting agricultural fuel from state, local and central fees and exempting it from customs to support production, in addition to the government proposing an incentive policy for farms in safe states, as well as addressing the conditions of farmers in unsafe states and reconciling their situations with financing in Banks in safe states if they want to enter the agricultural season in safe states.
