Minister of Finance reassures the preparation for the agricultural season

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, reassured the preparation for the summer agricultural season, through a meeting attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Bushra via (video conference) from Merowe, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Engineer Dawa Al-Bayt Mansour, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, Muhammad Adam, Director General of the Agricultural Bank, and Engineer Abdulaziz Muhammad Khair, Director General of the Nile Petroleum Company, in addition to security representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Gedaref State, and Bashaer Petroleum Company.
The meeting reviewed the indicative plan for the summer season from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Irrigation, and the Gezira Scheme regarding preparations, targeted areas and crops, and the readiness of the Ministry of Irrigation in terms of mechanisms and irrigation pumps. The needs for fuel, the quantities required in production areas, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and the efforts of some organizations in providing seeds were also discussed.
The plan of the Agricultural Bank was also listened to in the field of financing policies, controls and guarantees required, in addition to determining the crops that will be financed and linking the use of technology with financing in order to increase production and productivity.
The session listened to the efforts of oil companies regarding providing fuel and facilitating its flow to production areas.
The meeting stressed the need to solve the problems of fuel, transport it and store it in safe production areas before the fall, in addition to accelerating bids for seeds, pesticides, aircraft spraying, and production inputs, and providing the necessary financing through commercial banks. It was also emphasized to continue holding meetings periodically in order to follow up and solve problems and obstacles in a timely manner, to ensure the success of the summer agricultural season.
