An investigation published by CNN revealed that the Rapid Support RSF Militia forced hundreds of men and dozens of children to be forcibly recruited into its ranks.
The network said that its investigation revealed that the Rapid Support RSF Militia forcibly recruited about 700 men and 65 children to increase its forces in Gezira state alone.
It quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the militia uses hunger as a weapon, as it deprives those who refuse to join its ranks of food and food supplies.
CNN said that its investigation was based on testimonies given by about 30 people.
The network quoted eyewitnesses as saying that militia members give civilians two options: either join the militia fighters or starve.
The network broadcast a video report showing Sudanese men and boys being tortured by members of the Rapid Support Forces RSF and others announcing their joining of them.
