Washington: We will not recognize An independent Darfur Under any Circumstances

US Special Envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, said that some in the Rapid Support Forces RSF believe that controlling El Fasher will help them establish a separatist state in the Darfur region.
Perriello confirmed, according to the BBC, that the United States will not recognize Darfur as an independent state “under any circumstances.”
He added, “I think that if there is anyone in the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces RSF who believes that taking over El Fasher means in one way or another that they will have the right to control the states of Darfur, they must be freed from this myth.”
