Ardoul and the novel “The Courier of the Riyal Al-Maqdoud”
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Cultural critic Muhammad Ismail revealed that Mubarak Ardoul wrote the novel “The Courier of the Riyal Al-Maqdoud.”
He said that the novel was banned by the Bashir regime and was not published in Sudan, and pointed out that it is a dramatic novel that tells of Westernization and the obliteration of culture in the Nuba Mountains.
He said that the novel was published in 2014, noting that its historical importance comes from the fact that it deals with very important events that happened to the people of the Nuba Mountains and were not documented in the form of written stories or novels that could be translated into drama that reflects the hidden and untouched side of Sudan’s modern history. He explained that the novel clearly dealt with the grave practices committed against an indigenous people with deep roots in the African continent, indicating that the novel “The Courier of the Riyal Al-Maqdoud” wanders and immerses the reader through its distinctive page and the vocabulary of its words mixed with simple colloquial language and accompanied by the definition in classical Arabic, and how the identity of the people of the Nuba Mountains was changed from An authentic African people turned into a distorted monster that is neither recognized as an Arab nor an African that brags about its Africanness. “A strange creature created by the local colonizer.” He added.
“The novel The Courier of the Riyal Al-Maqdoud is a wonderful and very interesting novel.” He continued.
