Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, called for the need to coordinate peace efforts between Sudan’s partners and friends to achieve peace.
In his speech before the African Peace and Security Council (APSC)session on Friday, he renewed IGAD’s commitment to achieving peace for the Sudanese people after a year of war and escalating conflict. He stressed that there is still hope for reaching a peaceful solution, and praised the efforts made by IGAD, the African Union AU and international actors to facilitate a ceasefire.
