Composer Hassan El Shafei broke his silence and responded to the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab’s statements regarding the crisis in her official accounts on “Social Media” and about her not having control over what is published.
Hassan Al-Shafi’i published a statement via the Story feature on Instagram, which said: “The artist Sherine Abdel-Wahab is linked to my company by an agreement to operate the YouTube service and exploit artistic works under a special power of attorney for her brother, Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, permitting contracts for her artistic works, and a general comprehensive official power of attorney alongside the banks.” “The artist Sherine Abdel Wahab was aware of this contract, and what confirms this is her acceptance of the company’s invitation on YouTube to have her channel officially join our network for its management.” The statement added.
“It is not right for the contract to be concluded and the service to be provided for its benefit throughout that period without its knowledge or approval, and for it to wait more than 4 years to take legal action during the years 2023-2024 to claim that the company took over its YouTube channel.” The statement continued.
“On August 30, 2018, the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab published a picture of herself on her personal Instagram account in which she celebrated her obtaining the YouTube Golden Shield and the arrival of her YouTube channel to one million subscribers. In her comment on that picture, she thanked the company for their efforts and support for her to achieve this success, and you note that the date of this photo confirms that the service actually began before the contract date.” The statement concluded.
It is noteworthy that the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab sparked controversy through an audio recording presented by the journalist Amr Adeeb during one of the segments of his program, “I was surprised that he received social media from Muhammad, my brother and Hossam, and I loved it, and I wanted to confirm that Hossam’s words were very accurate and my brother really sold me.” She said.
