Abdul Wahab Wardi: The homeland is turning into ashes, and this (…) is my initiative for everyone

Sudan Events – Magda Hassan

Musician and artist Abdel Wahab Wardi called for the formation of a comprehensive humanitarian artistic union that includes all artists of all affiliations and urges them to unite in order to save the people of Sudan.
Wardi wrote a wide appeal, specifically for (Al-Ahdath), a copy of which he said, “To fellow male and female artists in Egypt, male and female singers, male and female singers, Zanq and Katamat people, male and female musicians, Tambour people and artists of the diverse and broad Sudanese heritage, sound engineers, sound system people and studios, Owners of various halls and theaters, people of cultural centers for teaching music, owners of music classes in centers, homes, etc.,” He added.
Are you affiliated with the Union of Artists (People of the Embassy) or with the Artists Association of (Mohamed Farid Street in Abdeen). You are with No to War and do not follow People. Rather, you are a coward, not a vulgarist, not a communist, and not a Umma Party interested or not interested in this story. We are all scattered. Despite our differences, we have fundamental and decisive things in common, which are that we are Sudanese and artists, meaning we are from one homeland and people of one profession, and (your country has a right over you and your profession as well).
Wardi said in the call to artists, “The country is now turning with astonishing speed into a heap of ashes. We all see that. Will we just be satisfied with watching?” He added, “One hand does not clap. We must create a (professional body) that blames us all together so that we can support our spirit here and join our oppressed people and support them, even if (with half a date),” he added, “Your political opinion and your position on the war is something that concerns you, but do you mind wiping the tear of a child lost in the desert between Dandir and Gedaref, not knowing where his family is, alive or dead?” He said, “I saw thousands of women carrying their children and we were crossing hundreds or even thousands of kilometers from the various cities of Darfur to Kufra in Libya, Chad or South Sudan?” He added, “I spoke in a video call with a person in Khartoum during the past days. They have become skeletons and 99% of those in Khartoum eat almost one meal in hospices and lentils if they fought as if they were slaughtering a sheep like this. This is the capital. So how are the parties? He added, “I call for the creation of a union that brings us all together. We in Egypt are tired and the people there in Sudan are perished. And as the great writer Marquez said (during a crisis, the human self is realized. Either it glows like Van Gogh’s colors or to be extinguished) and we are not only in a crisis, we are in an existential struggle that could erase Sudan from existence – land, human, bird and stone. Therefore, come, I invite you so that we can all meet in a place and time that we agree upon, and the best of righteousness is urgent, and we will not lack a means of communication with each other.
