Al-Khalifa: A theme of similarity between “The Two Naked Players” and “Season of Migration to the North”
Sudan Events – Magda Hassan
Dr. Hashim Al-Khalifa, professor of English literature at Sudanese universities, said that the novel The Two Naked Players by journalist and playwright Mirghani Absher will raise a storm. He added, “Yes, it will raise a storm, so be prepared for that.” He added, “The events of this novel take place between the neighborhoods of Omdurman, Khartoum, and the English city of Liverpool. Someone might say that there the theme is similar to Tayeb Salih’s masterpiece “The Season of Migration to the North”, but “The Two Naked Players” is a more daring story, and the narrator in it achieves a goal with his broad culture, unlike the intellectual Tayeb Salih, and this is due to the experience of writing and the age difference, and we can say even culture. Tayeb Salih wrote The Season and it is At a young age compared to the author of “The Two Players,” and “The Two Naked Players” was written after several books by its author. That is except with the writings that attract me, and I will write about them, as this is just a chat.”
On the other hand, the writer Mirghani Absher wrote on his Facebook page, saying, “I am indebted to life, and I am too smart to draw well like the brilliant Bellasthetus draws or like the genius Mozart sets the bar. If I did, I would leave life after a week, so I want to draw badly so that I can live a lifetime.” Long ago, I wonder if I should have listened carefully to this saying of the painter Salvador Dali while writing “The Two Naked Players.” Why didn’t I do that? I made a pledge with myself to write for people something new that had not been done before.
