UN Invites the SAF and Militia to Negotiations in Geneva next week

United Nations UN invited the Sudanese army SAF and the Rapid Support Forces RSF militia to hold indirect negotiations next week in Geneva, to seek facilitation for the delivery of aid to those affected by the fighting and the protection of civilians.
Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramtane Lamamra, sent a letter to the President of the Sovereignty Council TSC and Commander-in-Chief of the Army SAF ,Lt.Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on June 26, proposing sending a limited high-level delegation to Geneva on July 10, and starting discussions with the Rapid Support Forces RSF under the auspices of the United Nations UN.
According to the letter, which “Sudan Tribune” has seen, the negotiations will focus on the measures that must be taken to ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid to all Sudanese people in need, addition to examining options to ensure the protection of civilians.
He continued: “The aim of these discussions is to identify ways to advance the specific humanitarian outcomes to protect civilians through a possible ceasefire.”
The move by Ammar comes based on his mandate from the Security Council SC , in accordance with Resolution 2740, to use the combat directorate of Jude in Sudan. The Security Council also urged the parties to take appropriate action, in Resolution 2736, to stop the escalation in El Fasher, facilitate unhindered humanitarian access throughout the country, and ensure the protection of civilians.
