Fever Outbreak among Sudanese Refugee Children in Ethiopia

Sudan Events – Agencies

Sudanese refugees in Ethiopia revealed the spread of fevers among children, and their lack of treatment and health centers, which exacerbated the crisis experienced by refugees in “Amhara” region.
About 6,000 Sudanese refugees inside “Oulala” forest face extremely complex conditions, including about 2,300 women and children, while 45 children have died in the past months, according to a report by the Sudanese Refugee Committee in the Amhara region.
Refugees said, according to “Sudan Tribune”, that the poor environment in which refugees live inside the forest has led to a worsening of the health situation, especially for children, and they confirmed the spread of fevers among children and the increase in cases of malaria.
One of the refugees said in a video clip filmed inside the forest that the refugees spent 71 days in harsh conditions without any intervention from international humanitarian organizations, and the international community completely ignored the crisis of the stranded refugees.
He affirmed the spread of fevers among children and the lack of necessary treatments and health service centers that do not exist in the region until now. He appealed to the international community to intervene urgently, stressing that the refugees have lost hope in everything and are demanding to be transferred to a third country.
