Belgian Vincent Kompany, coach of the German team Bayern Munich, refused to comment on the future of some of the team’s players, after statements by Uli Hoeneß, the club’s honorary president, in which he confirmed that the club would sell some players before the end of the transfer period.

“Names are not part of my thinking,” Kompany said in a press conference at the start of a three-day camp outside Bavaria.

The Belgian coach faced questions about the future of midfielder Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry, in addition to Joshua Kimmich, who plays in the full-back and midfield positions.

“You asked me about buying and selling. This is not my job.” Kompany said to a journalist.

Bayern Munich spent approximately 125 million euros ($136 million) on new players after signing Japanese defender Hiroki Ito, Portuguese midfielder João Balenha, and French striker Michael Olise.

This will have an impact on the team’s structure, but Kompany confirmed that he will not deal with that matter, saying: It is impossible for me to do that.

“I did not hold a press conference to talk about what Uli Hoeness said. I have great respect for him, but my job is to focus on my work with the team.” Kompany added.

The successor to coach Thomas Tuchel will have 27 players in the camp held in Rotach-Egern, while the players who participated in the European Nations and the Copa America will join at a later time.

Kompany explained that the list will not be complete even when Bayern travels to South Korea next week.

The list of absent players includes Harry Kane from the England national team, which reached the final, the French duo Kingsley Coman and Dayot Upamecano (they reached the semi-finals), and Canadian Alphonso Davies, who reached the semi-finals of the Copa America with his country.
