Heavy rains, on Thursday evening, in Qabati area in River Nile state, resulted in torrential floods that cut off Al Tahadi Highway and stopped traffic to and from Atbara.
The Director of the Rapid Traffic in the River Nile, Police Col.Sharaf al-Din Mohamed Sharaf al-Din, explained according to the “Police Press Office” that the Rapid Traffic Headquarters , in accordance with the directives of the Director of the Rapid Traffic Department, Police Maj. Gen. (Lawyer) Mubarak al-Zain, called for caution and alarm and not to be reckless and risk trying to cross danger zones, adding that his administration has completed all its preparations and traffic arrangements by placing a force Al Dayiqa and Bashair Center in a state of 100% readiness under the supervision of First Lt. Abu Bakr al-Fadil to detain vehicles on both sides of the valley until the road is opened, while the site was visited and the situation was checked in the field as the floods are still continuing, indicating coordination with the Roads and Bridges Authority to make the necessary treatments to open the road, as an engineer was sent for evaluation and explained that the mechanisms are present, as the treatment was immediately started after the valley water receded.
It is noteworthy that the states of River Nile, Northern and Kassala witnessed heavy rains that caused obstruction of vehicle traffic.
