The SAF Advances in new Locations West of Omdurman
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Sudanese army SAF continued its advance in areas west of Omdurman by taking control, on Sunday, of new locations after fierce battles against the Rapid Support RSF Militia.
According to “Sudan Tribune”, military sources said that “the armed forces SAF extended their absolute control over the western and northern front of the engineering corps, starting from Wad al-Bashir Bridge, passing through the neighborhoods of Ombada Hamad al-Nil to Mansoura suburb southwest of Omdurman.”
The sources indicated that the SAF was able to seize seven military vehicles and destroy six others, in addition to receiving two “Kornet” anti-tank cannons, along with large quantities of various weapons.
Eyewitnesses reported to “Sudan Tribune” that violent clashes broke out between the two forces in the neighborhoods of “Al-Bustan and Al-Nakhil”, amid the retreat of the Rapid Support Forces towards the neighborhoods of Al-Murabba’at, the Real Estate Bank, and the areas of Libya Market and Dar al-Salam in the far west of Omdurman.
Witnesses also reported that a number of artillery shells fell in Square 26, Dar Al Salam, and the Ombada-Kurur and Wad Al Bashir areas, without causing any casualties
The Mansoura area and the neighborhoods that the army reached for the first time since the beginning of the clashes in mid-April 2023 are areas of influence of the Rapid Support Forces, from which attacks targeting the Engineering Corps were launched.
The area also contains, according to sources, platforms for launching missiles and long-range cannons that were targeting the Al-Thawra neighborhoods and army headquarters in Karari, north of Omdurman.
