Council of Ministers of the Northern state Government approved, in its regular meeting on Thursday in Dongola, headed by the state governor, Abdeen Awad Allah, the draft amendment to the state budget for the current year 2024 .
The meeting also discussed the performance report of the ministries and specialized councils for the second quarter of the current year.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture and Media, the official spokesman for the state government, Al-Baqir Akasha Osman, said, according to the Sudan News Agency ( SUNA) that the meeting listened to a briefing from the Director-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development in the state, Head of Autumn Emergency chamber , Khaled Musa, about the damage caused by the rains and floods in the localities and the interventions that were made to mitigate their effects, and indicated that the performance rate is good in light of the lack of federal support for the state.
For his part, the acting Director General of the Ministry of Finance and Manpower, Abdullah Mohamed Osman, said that the state’s amended budget amounts to SDGs 179 billion , adding that the increase rate amounted to 13%.
He pointed out that this amendment came as a result of the rise in the inflation rate and the prices of goods and services for citizens, and pointed out that the amended budget absorbed the increases in resources and insurance needs at the local level.
