Governor of Khartoum Calls for Initiatives to Alleviate War Suffering on Citizens

The Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Othman Hamza, called on the youth to present initiatives that support citizens suffering from the horrors of war. The governor stated, “While we, as the executive body, work to address the problems facing services, groups of young people have engaged in voluntary work that has helped ease the suffering.” He pointed out several initiatives that have received wide praise and sympathy from Sudanese people abroad, who have provided support to food relief centers, helping them continue their work.
On Sunday, the Governor of Khartoum met with the Sudanese Youth Council, one of the councils affiliated with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qayim. The governor praised the support provided by the Youth Council to the armed forces and hospitals, and its efforts with several partners to attract more aid to complement the efforts of the Khartoum State government. He added, “We are making continuous efforts these days to improve the conditions of those who survived the atrocities of the rebel militia in Bahri North and provide shelter in North Karri, as well as support the large numbers hosted at the housing shelter center in Block 76 Housing and all centers to which citizens fled after the cleansing of areas in Umbada.”
The governor emphasized the importance of developing youth initiatives to contribute to reconstruction efforts, warning of the risk of the void being exploited by entities with agendas aimed at corrupting young minds and turning them into idle wreckage.
The President of the Sudanese Youth Council stated that the council had implemented several initiatives with the Khartoum State government before the war, the most notable of which was the “Your Notebook is on Us” initiative, which includes awareness content. He also mentioned the council’s efforts to organize food convoys to support the state’s relief efforts for those affected.
