The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame in Kigali.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them.

Al-Burhan briefed the Rwandan president on the situation in Sudan in light of the rebellion led by the Rapid Support Forces militia against the state and its institutions, and the ongoing efforts to address the crisis. He pointed out that the Sudanese government has responded positively to all proposed initiatives, while the terrorist militia remains obstinate and refuses to implement the commitments outlined in the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11.

Al-Burhan reaffirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to peace, stating that peace must be just and uphold the dignity and pride of the Sudanese people.

The Rwandan president affirmed the strong relations between Sudan and Rwanda, expressing his gratitude to the President of the Sovereignty Council for accepting the invitation to visit Rwanda, and wishing Sudan continued peace, security, and stability.

In the context of his visit to Rwanda, Al-Burhan also met with the Egyptian Foreign Minister. They discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and the challenges facing Sudanese citizens in Egypt, with the Egyptian side promising to resolve all obstacles facing Sudanese residents in Egypt. They also agreed on coordinating regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese cause and ensure the success of peace initiatives, as well as agreeing on a bilateral path to affirm Sudan’s sovereignty and support its national institutions.
