Signing to Complete the Kalanib Electricity Project in Port Sudan

The Ministry of Energy and Oil and the Ministry of Finance signed with the National Energy and Engineering Company at Coral Hotel the completion of the Kalanib Electricity Project in Port Sudan, in the presence of Sovereign Council member Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber, the Governor of the Red Sea, a number of ministers, and representatives of the Kalanib area.
The Ministry of Energy and Oil was signed by Dr. Mohiuddin Naim Muhammad Saeed, the Ministry of Finance by Dr. Gabriel Ibrahim, and the National Energy and Engineering Company by Jili Abu Shama, the civilian deputy director of the Defense Industries System.
Sovereign Council member Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber saluted the armed forces on their 70th anniversary as they engage in the battle of dignity supported by the Sudanese people. He also saluted the electricity sector in Sudan, and paid tribute to the martyrs of electricity. He described the signing of the project as a victory as it produces 350 megawatts, exceeding the needs of the state, and revealed the opening of investment in electricity, especially in clean energy. He said, “We support all projects of the Ministry of Energy and Oil, even those under study, such as the installation of wind turbines in the Northern State and the Red Sea South of Tokar.”
For his part, Minister of Energy and Oil Dr. Mohiuddin Naim said that the agreement came based on state directives regarding war economies aimed at stopping major projects except for the utmost necessity. The Kalanib Electricity Project is considered important and of utmost necessity because it provides permanent electricity that covers the consumption of the Red Sea State and adds 130 megawatts to the national grid. The project had been halted for years, and he pointed out the ministry’s readiness to complete it on time.
The Governor of the Red Sea, Brigadier General (Retired) Mustafa Muhammad Nour Mahmoud, affirmed that the Kalanib Electricity Project represents life for the people of the state. He said that the stability of the electricity supply is a big dream for the citizens of the Red Sea State, and he confirmed his readiness to overcome all obstacles facing the project’s work at the Kalanib station.
