The Militia Commits a Horrific Massacre, Killing 85 People
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia committed a horrific massacre in the village of Jalingei in Sennar State, resulting in 85 deaths, including children in Quranic schools, and 153 injured.
In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the militia has so far refused to allow the victims’ families to bury them. The statement added, “The militia committed this heinous massacre after firing indiscriminately at the unarmed residents of the village as punishment for resisting the abduction and sexual assault of several village girls by militia members. It is noteworthy that the village has been subjected to militia attacks since last month, during which all valuable possessions of the villagers were looted, and its residents were subjected to the worst treatment.”
The statement called on the international community, particularly those currently meeting in Geneva and discussing peace negotiations with the militia, to condemn this terrorist crime and take the necessary steps to treat the militia as a terrorist organization responsible for crimes against humanity.
The Ministry also reiterated that any engagement with the militia would only encourage it to commit more atrocities, genocide, and crimes against humanity.
