UN: Rains and Floods Displace 117,000 Sudanese

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, reported on Saturday that rains and floods that swept through 12 out of Sudan’s 18 states have displaced 117,000 people.

In a report obtained by “Sudan Tribune,” the IOM stated that “from June 1 to August 12, 60 incidents of heavy rains and floods were reported, causing sudden displacement in Sudan.”

The report indicated that the rains and floods led to the displacement of 23,567 families, totaling 117,835 individuals, from various locations in 12 states.

The report revealed that 32,000 buildings were partially or completely damaged due to the rains, torrents, and floods.
