Northern State: Continued Distribution of Cash Assistance to Poor Families

Mona Salah El-Din Naqd, Director of the Poverty Projects Coordination Department at the General Secretariat of Social Affairs in the Northern State, confirmed that the process of disbursing direct social cash assistance to poor families is progressing well in Dongola locality, which started on the eighteenth of this month.
She pointed out that the number of beneficiaries in the locality is 1,138 families with a total cost estimated at more than 60 million Sudanese pounds.
She added, according to the Sudan News Agency, that the number of those who have received their payments so far in Dongola locality has reached 700 families out of the total beneficiaries, each receiving 50,000 pounds for the third and fourth installments.
She stated that a timetable has been set for the localities of the state according to the targeted number in each locality. She confirmed that after completing the disbursement of direct social cash assistance in Dongola locality, the disbursement will begin in Al-Golid locality, with the head of the locality and the Old Dongola unit, starting next Sunday, August 25, until the 29th of the month. It will then move on to Al-Burgaig locality. She noted that the distribution of funds for the third and fourth installments in the Northern State, benefiting 6,576 families at a total cost of 370 million Sudanese pounds, will continue until the 29th of September, with the final distribution taking place in Delgo locality.
The Director of the Poverty Projects Coordination Department at the General Secretariat of Social Affairs in the Northern State urged all beneficiaries of the direct social cash assistance program to make sure to collect their payments by coordinating and following up with the executive managers in the localities and social affairs departments.
She renewed the efforts of the Poverty Projects Coordination Department and its follow-up on comprehensive social security projects in all the localities of the state in the areas of livelihood improvement, environmental sanitation, water, and community awareness, as well as following up on the good loan project for economically active individuals.
