Watchdog: Large Numbers of Militia Elements Infiltrating Chadian Territory
Sudan Events – Reports
A recent report from the Sudan War Monitor has observed the arrival of large numbers of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia members into Chadian territory, with other groups reaching the Sudanese-Chadian border at the Adré region.
According to the report, news coming from El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, indicates that RSF members who participated in the recent attack on the capital of North Darfur State, El Fasher, are on their way to the Chadian border, with other numbers already inside Chadian territory via the Adré border area.
Sources from the Adré area reported continuous movement of RSF personnel from El Geneina to the Um Guroba area, southeast of the Chadian town of Adré, and from there to the town of Abéché and its surroundings.
A Chadian security source informed the Sudan War Monitor that most of the RSF members infiltrating into Chad are originally Chadian citizens.
According to the sources, a group of returnees arrived at the Shteita area near the Wadi Mora, where they were received by several locals with camels and taken to the designated area.
In a separate context, the same sources reported an increase in fuel smuggling activities from inside Chadian territory into Sudanese territory, with large quantities of fuel being transported by Land Cruiser vehicles through the Adré crossing and into Sudan, where the RSF controls the area between it and El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State.
Field sources informed Sudan War Monitor that RSF forces attacked El Fasher from three directions on the morning of Saturday, August 10, 2024. The same sources reported that the RSF used drones in the recent battles, targeting the livestock market, some positions of the Juba Peace Joint Forces, and the Saudi Hospital, resulting in the deaths of several civilians in El Fasher.
Other sources mentioned the destruction of several civilian homes in the Al-Radif and Awlad Al-Reef neighborhoods, along with the looting and burning of 19 stores in the livestock market located south of El Fasher.
The Abu Shouk Emergency Room reported via its Facebook page that more than 10 shells were fired by RSF forces on Monday, August 12, 2024, causing over 8 injuries in the camp. The clashes on Saturday, August 10, resulted in the deaths and injuries of over 20 residents of the camp.
