White Nile State Minister Inspects Flood-Affected Agricultural Projects

Sudan Events – Reports
The Acting Minister of Production and Economic Resources in the White Nile State, accompanied by several agricultural department directors, inspected several areas affected by rain and floods coming from Al-Jazirah State in the Rabak locality on Thursday.
The visit included the projects of Taif, East Al-Jasir, Al-Shawal, Al-Kunuz, “Wood Dhoyou,” and some private pumps and rain-fed agriculture.
The Minister stated that the areas of corn crops submerged in these regions exceed 13,000 feddans, with 7,450 feddans in irrigated projects.
The Minister mentioned that the ministry is striving to replant the affected areas with fast-maturing varieties and alternative crops to compensate farmers and is exploring the possibility of maintaining the drainage system in cooperation with relevant authorities.
Wissal Al-Sheikh described the rainfall distribution across many agricultural areas in the state as favorable, noting that various crops are in advanced stages of growth, with sesame reaching the flowering stage.
Farmers, in turn, called on the Ministry of Production and relevant authorities to address the issue of the drainage system in Al-Jazirah State and replant the areas affected by flooding.
