North Korea Strongly Condemns U.S. Nuclear Strategy

North Korea expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the revised U.S. nuclear strategy approved by President Joe Biden this year, according to a report by Reuters today, Saturday.
North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will continue to strengthen its strategic capabilities in all ways to confront and overcome any security challenges posed by the dangerous U.S. nuclear posture, and will respond firmly to any type of nuclear threat.”
The ministry added in a statement carried by the North Korean Central News Agency that “the efforts of other sovereign countries to enhance their defensive capabilities to address the increasing nuclear threat from the United States cannot be an excuse for the U.S. to aggressively and provocatively adjust its nuclear posture.”
It said, “Regardless of how much the United States exaggerates the nuclear threat from other countries, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will continue to build a nuclear force that is sufficient and reliable enough to strongly defend the country’s sovereignty and security interests within its set timeframe.”
The White House said last Tuesday that the secret nuclear strategy plan is not a response to a specific country or threat, after The New York Times reported that it redirects deterrence strategy to focus on China’s nuclear expansion for the first time.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that it is deeply concerned about the report, which said that the plan also seeks to prepare the United States for potential coordinated nuclear challenges from China, Russia, and North Korea.
