U.S. Envoy: Geneva Talks Have Made Progress
Sudan Events – Agencies
U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan, Tom Perriello, expressed hope that the increasing diplomatic momentum would lead to the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to suffering civilians in Sudan.
During a press conference held on Friday, Perriello urged the international community to take immediate action to secure food, water, and essential support for the Sudanese people. He noted that the Geneva talks had made progress despite varying commitments from the Sudanese parties.
Despite the political complexities, Perriello confirmed that the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, had shown clear commitment to delivering humanitarian aid. In an encouraging move, the RSF announced its agreement to facilitate the passage of aid to the affected areas.
