Al-Burhan: I Will Not Surrender and We Reject Trading Khartoum for El Fasher
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed that the current situation of the army is better than before and emphasized their refusal to trade Khartoum for El Fasher. During a meeting with journalists in Port Sudan on Saturday, Al-Burhan stated that they had received an incomplete invitation from the United States and informed them of their objection to the desire to send a military delegation instead of a governmental one, adding, “We will not go to Geneva.” He considered the Geneva negotiations as an attempt to whitewash the face of the militia and its supporters, stressing that they will not accept the expansion of the Jeddah platform or the introduction of new topics for dialogue with the Rapid Support Forces. Al-Burhan also stated that Sudanese people will not accept the presence of the Rapid Support Forces in the future. Addressing the militia leader Hemeti, Al-Burhan said, “I will not surrender, nor will I kill you; you must face the Sudanese people,” asserting that Hemeti will remain a fugitive and they will not leave him or those who cooperated with him unpunished, and they will pursue them. He pointed out that Sudan is facing a conspiracy being woven by international and regional parties, adding, “We will not lay down our arms until the rebellion ends; we will not coexist with the rebels, nor will we forgive or negotiate with them.”
