25 People Killed in Militia Attack on Displaced Persons Camp in Al-Fashir

Authorities in North Darfur state announced on Monday the killing of 25 people and the injury of dozens following an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia that targeted a crowded displaced persons camp in Al-Fashir, North Darfur. The Director General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur, Ibrahim Khater, reported to “Sudan Tribune” that “25 people were killed and 40 others injured due to the RSF militia shelling of Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons in Al-Fashir.”
The Coordination Committee of the Al-Fashir Resistance Committees stated that the RSF shelling of Abu Shouk camp led to the killing of more than 20 people and the injury of 32 others.
Witnesses reported that the RSF militia continued targeting populated areas in Al-Fashir city with heavy weapons, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries in the northern, western, and southern neighborhoods of the city.
The shelling also targeted the police hospital in North Darfur, causing extensive damage and rendering it out of service, according to a police source who spoke to “Sudan Tribune.”
Furthermore, the RSF artillery targeted the private South Desert Technical College in Al-Fashir, causing widespread destruction, including damage to the main hall, laboratory, morgue, and administrative offices. This was the second shelling of the college, located in the southwestern part of Al-Fashir city.
