Beni Halba Mobilizes 10,000 Fighters to Support the Army
Sudan Events – Reports
Omar Sumi, head of the Higher Coordination Committee for the Hawazma, said that citizens in South Kordofan are living in extremely difficult humanitarian conditions due to the siege imposed by the RSF militia and the SPLM-N led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, noting that many citizens have resorted to eating tree leaves due to hunger.
Sumi, speaking at the media forum of Radio Biladi following a meeting between Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the community in Port Sudan on Thursday, stated that the humanitarian situation is a real challenge. He mentioned efforts to persuade some tribe members in the RSF to form a popular committee to help the affected people, but some refused, insisting that the matter be coordinated with the UN
He confirmed their united support for the armed forces in the dignity battle and disassociated themselves from any ties with the RSF. He stated they succeeded in convincing tribe members to abandon fighting with the “rebel militias,” noting that the tribal administration is strong and has performed well alongside the army despite limited resources.
In this context, Ismail Ibrahim, a leader in the Beni Halba coordination committee, announced the readiness of 10,000 mobilized fighters to support the army in liberating Sudan from the RSF rebel militias, highlighting the significant violations they committed against citizens.
Assistant to the President for State Affairs Awad Al-Taher pointed to the withdrawal of large numbers of tribe members from fighting with the RSF, emphasizing the importance of dialogue with those still with the militias.
