Governor of White Nile Inaugurates “Umm Katirat” Water Project

Governor of White Nile, Omar Al-Khalifa Abdullah, inaugurated the water collection and pumping project from the underground basin in the Umm Katirat area and the extension of the water line to the city of Tandalti. The project spans more than nine kilometers and cost over 2.5 billion Sudanese pounds, financed by the state government and the Zakat Chamber.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the governor stated that the “Umm Katirat” water project had long been a dream for the people of Tandalti. He noted that the implementation of this project would provide clean and potable water to the city. Al-Khalifa promised to execute several development and service projects in the fields of electricity and water for several villages in the locality, with contributions from both the state and local governments. He expressed his gratitude to all entities that contributed to the implementation of the Umm Katirat water project, especially the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Finance, the Zakat Chamber, and the Tandalti Project Support Committee.
On his part, Tandalti Locality Executive Director Hisham Al-Sheikh stated that the “Umm Katirat” water project is the greatest achievement of the state government despite the war and scarce resources. He added that the project would solve the water shortage problem in Tandalti city permanently and contribute to the stability of the citizens, describing the project’s implementation as a dream come true and water flowing.
