59 Aid Trucks Cross from Chad into Darfur
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Sunday that 59 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid crossed from Chad into Darfur through the Adré border crossing between August 20 and 30.
An additional 128 trucks are preparing to transport more supplies to meet the needs of 355,000 people in the coming days, in a move aimed at ensuring a continuous flow of aid.
Despite this effort, humanitarian partners confirmed that heavy rains and floods have destroyed three main bridges in Darfur, hindering transportation within the region, according to OCHA.
The trucks are carrying medical, food, and emergency supplies intended to assist about 195,000 affected people in the region.
