Government Announces the Amount Spent on Humanitarian Aid

The government announced the amount of money spent by the Ministry of Finance on humanitarian aid up until August 2024.
The Minister of Culture and Information, Graham Abdel Qader, stated in a press release that the Ministry of Finance, as part of its efforts to support humanitarian work and serve the citizens, made cash payments for aid amounting to 34.628 billion Sudanese pounds. Additionally, it provided in-kind support, including 10,000 sacks of sorghum for the displaced in Kassala, worth 470 billion pounds.
He added that the Ministry of Finance provided 400,000 sacks of sorghum from the strategic reserve for the states, equivalent to 24.747 billion pounds, and allocated $230 million for aid from external financing from the World Bank and $167 million from the African Development Bank.
He said that the government waived fees for customs, standards, quarantine, and pesticides amounting to $300 million.
